On 19th October 2023, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, allowed the board of directors of the Cambodia Microfinance Association to pay a courtesy call, congratulate and inform about the progress of microfinance sector in Cambodia. After being informed about the progress, challenges and suggestions, H.E. Dr. had raised recommendations to the association to contribute to the microfinance sector including, i/-strengthen resiliency and sustainability of members and the whole sector ii/-increase financial literacy and positive attitude towards the microfinance sector among clients and the public iii/- strengthen capacity building and professional ethics in terms of credit iv/-study and compile documents about illegal credit providers before requesting intervention from authorities and v/. Encourage more frequent conversational culture between public sector and authorities which illustrates the cooperation in problem solving and promotion of the inclusive development of microfinance sector.
